Grief Support Programs Planned

Hospice & Community Care and the Pathways Center for Grief & Loss will offer several programs. Support groups will be held via Zoom. Readers may call the Pathways Center at 717-391-2413 or 800-924-7610 to receive Zoom credentials.

Coping With the Loss of a Spouse or Companion, a drop-in group for adults, will meet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 3, and Tuesday, March 9. Each free meeting will include a presentation and an informal time to talk with others. Registration is required by calling the Pathways Center.

GRASP (Grief Recovery After a Substance Passing) will meet on March 9 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. This group is for individuals who had a loved one who died as a result of substance abuse or addiction. A Newly Bereaved Program will take place on Wednesdays, March 10, 17 and 24, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. For those whose loss was recent, this three-week series aims to provide an overview of common grief responses and help attendees to begin to identify coping tools. Space is limited, and registration is required. Those who would like to attend should call the Pathways Center at least one week prior to the start of the group to speak with a bereavement counselor.

Coping With the Loss of a Child (of Any Age) will be offered on Wednesdays, March 10 to 31, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. This series will explore common reactions experienced by parents after the death of a child of any age, coping strategies, self-care, ways to commemorate a child's life, and more. Individuals will first meet with a bereavement counselor to determine if the group will meet their needs. They should call the Pathways Center by March 3 to schedule an appointment.
