Gretna Theatre Posts Performances

Gretna Theatre, one of America's oldest summer theaters, has announced its 99th anniversary season.

The mainstage season will offer four productions, beginning with "Always ... Patsy Cline" from Thursday to Sunday, June 4 to 7. Directed by Michelle Tattenbaum, the show was inspired by the real-life friendship between country singer Patsy Cline and her fan Louise Seger. It features 27 of Cline's hits, including "Crazy" and "I Fall to Pieces."

"A Night With Janis Joplin" will be presented from Thursday to Sunday, June 18 to 21. Tracing Joplin's journey from small-town Texas to international stardom, the show includes songs like "Piece of My Heart" and "Me and Bobby McGee."

The season will continue with the American premiere of "Murder at Ackerton Manor" from Thursday to Sunday, July 9 to 12. Directed by Alex Keiper, it is a fast-paced comedic mystery that was inspired by Agatha Christie and features three actors portraying seven characters.

The mainstage season will close with "Hair" from Thursday to Sunday, July 23 to Aug. 2. Directed by Gretna Theatre's producing artistic director, Michael Philip O'Brien, the Grammy- and Tony Award-winning musical captures the spirit of the 1960s through songs like "Aquarius," "Hair," and "Let the Sunshine In."

In addition to its mainstage lineup, Gretna Theatre will present a series of special events throughout the summer, including "Good Vibrations: A Celebration of The Beach Boys" on Saturday, June 27. "Puppy Pals LIVE" on Thursday, July 16, will deliver a family-friendly spectacle of rescued dogs performing stunts and tricks. The season will conclude with "Broadway's Best: A Night of Musical Showstoppers" on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 21 to 22.

As Gretna Theatre approaches its centennial, its 99th season seeks to reflect both its enduring legacy and its commitment to creating bold, engaging live theater experiences for generations to come.
