Grambau Wins H.K. Cooper Award

Stephanie Grambau of Lititz is this year's recipient of the H.K. Cooper Award. The Lancaster County Dental Society dedicates this award to the memory of the late H.K. Cooper, a Lancaster orthodontist who pioneered the team approach to the treatment of cleft lip and palate and whose efforts led to the founding of the Lancaster Cleft Palate Clinic in 1938. The clinic recognized the need for evaluating and treating patients with a wide variety of congenital or acquired craniofacial conditions.

Although usually awarded to a dentist, this year the Cooper Award was presented to Stephanie, who is a nurse and the wife of dentist Dr. Todd Grambau, for her years of volunteer service in the Alliance of the Lancaster County Dental Society. The ceremony took place at Bent Creek Country Club in May.

The Alliance to the Lancaster County Dental Society is a charitable and social organization dedicated to the support of the dental family, community oral health education, and legislative advocacy for the welfare of the public and the dental profession. A member of the Alliance for more than 12 years, Stephanie has been the president of the Alliance for the past 10 years. She has run programs such as the annual fundraiser for the organization, which has regularly brought in over $8,000 a year in donations to fund the organization's charitable works. She has also overseen the stuffing of over 1,000 dental health kits each year and their distribution to people in need, and she spearheaded the Alliance's local Children's Dental Health Month Poster Contest.
