Janine Pflaum, director of development for York County Libraries (YCL), talked about the organization and its participation in Give Local York, a countywide day of fundraising set for May 1:
What is the mission of Martin Library?
Our mission is to strengthen the York County community and to enrich individual lives by supplying information, providing recreation, promoting literacy, encouraging lifelong learning, and serving as the hub of their communities.
Why is the library excited to participate in Give Local York this year?
Martin Library is much more than books, and it acts as an agile, innovative institution serving real-life needs in today's real-life situation. Just as Give Local York highlights online giving options using technology, technology helps our library do what we do best.
Our library's doors may be closed right now, but we're still here for the community during these uncertain times. Our library continues to maintain robust digital services that can be accessed anywhere from our website. Anyone with a library card can continue to enjoy today's bestsellers, children's picture books, movies, music, and learning opportunities from the comfort and safety of their home.
Now, more than ever, our library needs the community's support to ensure these resources continue to be accessible and that the programs we all love can continue when our doors open again.
