What is the mission of the Appell Center for the Performing Arts?

The Appell Center for the Performing Arts, consisting of the historic Strand and Capitol theaters in downtown York, enriches the community through performing arts education and entertainment.

Why is the organization excited to participate in Give Local York this year?

The Appell Center is excited to participate in Give Local York again this year because it gives us the chance to join with other nonprofits in our community to showcase all the amazing work being done throughout York County. It also gives us the chance to talk with members of the community who may not be familiar with all that we do - we are more than live theater performances! We offer live music, York Symphony Orchestra concerts, stand-up comedy, films, family programming, and educational programs such as Stage the Page, a literacy and live theater experience available for free to nearly 10,000 York County kindergarten to second-grade students each year.
