Katie Wilt, ALPHA leadership committee member, talked about the organization and its participation in Give Local York, a countywide day of fundraising set for May 1:

What is the mission of ALPHA?

The ALPHA (which stands for Alliance for Low Income Personal Care Home Advancement) Project is a community initiative in York County. The ALPHA Project's goal is to improve the quality of life at existing low-income personal care home facilities and to foster collaborations that will increase the number of low-income personal care home beds available in the community.

Why is the organization excited to participate in Give Local York this year?

ALPHA is excited to participate in Give Local York this year because there are more than eight identified ALPHA homes in our own back yard that need support in anything from flowers being planted to roofs needing repaired. We are so excited to help these homes. Confucius said, "The man who moves a mountain begins by carrying away small stones." While we may not be able to solve all of the issues that our local personal care homes are facing, we can ensure that our low-income, vulnerable populations are living their best life with dignity and that the providers caring for them feel supported.
