Ginny and Glenn's Love Fostered in New Holland

Ginny Weber is of the opinion that her life is fuller with a significant other in it. She likes having someone do things with, she enjoys having someone to come home to, and she is a proponent of the concept of marriage.

Of course, it's also important that Glenn Yarnall is the right person for her.

"I was praying to God that if He wants me to have someone, He would have to show me," said Ginny. "(Glenn) was praying the same thing, and the Lord showed us each other. The guys I was dating didn't want any commitment. I wanted to be loved. I didn't want anything else."

On Aug. 15, Ginny and Glenn were married during a ceremony inside Yoder's Restaurant's banquet hall. But what sparked the eastern Lancaster County couple's 13-month courtship was a blind date at Lickity Split Restaurant and Ice Cream Parlor in July of 2025.

"Glenn is a very thoughtful, loving man," said Ginny. "He's really funny. We can say anything to each other and we can laugh about stuff. With Glenn, I know I'm loved. Being without love for all those years, you don't want to be lonely."

Set up by a mutual acquaintance, Glenn and Ginny's blind date at Lickity Split started out a little awkward, but as they became comfortable with one another, the meeting picked up momentum. By the end of it, the seeds of a relationship had been planted.

Not all blind dates turn out the same way.

"(Mutual friend) Tracy said, 'I'm going to go now and let you talk,'" said Ginny. "I told Glenn, 'Today, would've been mine and my (deceased) husband's anniversary.' I was crying. He said, 'Can I give you a hug?' and it's a bear hug. I'm thinking, 'This guy isn't going to go for me because I'm a ball baby.' He gave me three hugs and then he said, 'Can I have a date?' That was the beginning of us going together."

Even more random was Ginny's friend Tracy's initial meeting of Glenn. A waitress, Tracy overheard Glenn say he'd like to meet someone and get married again.

Glenn had been divorced for 40 years.

"Tracy turned around and said, 'Well, I might have someone for you. I'll get back to you,'" said Ginny. "Tracy said to me, 'Ginny, do you want to go on a blind date?' And I said 'yes' right away. What made me say 'yes' was he said he'd like to find a girl to marry."

Ginny and Glenn's relationship is not perfect. But they are perfect for each other.

"I couldn't ask for something better than this," Ginny said. "I don't know how many bouquets of flowers I've gotten from him. I know for a fact that his life is complete because he never had true love (before)."

"The Lord is in control, and He knows what's best," concluded Ginny. "You've just got to pray and see what the Lord says. You've just got to have faith."
