The GEARS 26th annual golf tournament sponsored by R.E. Pierson Materials Corp. will take place on Friday, Oct. 7, at the Dauphin of Highlands Golf Course, 650 S Harrisburg St., Harrisburg. The format will be a four-person scramble with an 8:15 a.m. shotgun start. The entry fee includes green fees, use of a cart, lunch, and prizes. Proceeds from this event will benefit GEARS.

"An Intro to Medicare," designed for individuals about to turn age 65, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at the Senior Center, 70 S. Poplar St., Elizabethtown. The basics of Medicare will be explained, including how and when to sign up for Medicare, what is covered by the different parts of Medicare (A, B, C and D), and what the difference is between a Medicare Supplemental (Medigap) and a Medicare Advantage plan. Several rounds of Medicare bingo will be played at the conclusion of the class.
