Gap Town Clock Lions Club To Present Christmas Bazaar

The Gap Town Clock Lions Club will hold its annual Christmas bazaar at the Gap Fire Hall on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will feature shopping from local vendors, food items and an opportunity for children to visit with Santa.

About 20 crafters and artisans will be featured, selling items such as jewelry, woodcrafts and home decor. Home-based business vendors, including Mary Kay cosmetics and Norwex cleaning, will also offer items for sale.

"We will have hot lunches to purchase - soup and sandwiches - along with doughnuts and coffee," said club president Steve Wenrich.

Visitors will also have an opportunity to win gift baskets, and Santa Claus will be on hand and available for photos.

The club has also recently started collecting plastic items as part of a recycling program offered through Trex, which allows communities to earn free benches. Attendees are encouraged to bring plastic items to the bazaar.

"We are asking people to bring plastic grocery bags. We will be able to recycle them and get a bench for the Salisbury Township Community Park in Gap," Wenrich noted. Other items that can be donated include newspaper sleeves, empty ice bags and bread bags and the plastic that is used to wrap cases of bottled water.

Proceeds from the bazaar will help support the Lions Club's community projects, such as the Pequea Valley High School's Career Occupation Relevancy Education (C.O.R.E.) Program, which teaches trades to students and promotes craftsmanship. In the past, the club has also supported the Christiana Ambulance Association and partnered with Blessings of Hope to provide food boxes to people in need in the Gap, Salisbury Township and Pequea Valley areas.

Information will be provided at the bazaar for those interested in joining the Lions Club.

The Gap Town Clock Lions Club meets on the first Thursday of each month at 7 a.m. at a member's home. For the meeting location, email Wenrich at swenrich@fultonbank.com.

Wenrich said that owning a business is not required to join the club. "The Lions Club is composed of people who come together to network and to serve the community. We welcome everyone," he said.

The Gap Fire Hall is located at 802 Pequea Ave., Gap. For more information about the bazaar or the Lions Club, visit http://www.facebook.com/gaplionsclub.
