Fundraiser Benefits Local Nonprofits

The Fresh Brews of Mount Joy, co-hosted by Voyage Mount Joy and YAH Brew Mount Joy, was held on April 26.

The area's first beerfest was a '90s themed festival that hosted 45 breweries ranging from local to Mount Joy breweries; breweries from around Pennsylvania; and breweries from all across the United States, including California, Indiana, Florida and others.

Live musical entertainment was provided by the local band No Reply, which played all types of music from the decade of the 1990s. The festival sold around 820 tickets and drew around 1,000 people to the downtown area on Main Street between Market Street and Marietta Avenue.

The Donegal Athletic Club (DAC) was designated as the other nonprofit, along with Voyage Mount Joy, to receive funds from the proceeds of the event. Voyage Mount Joy raised a total of $16,000 for its organization, which will be used to help support local businesses within the 17552 area code and other town events.

Voyage Mount Joy was also able to donate $4,000 to DAC from the proceeds. DAC has designated to use these funds to benefit student-athletes within the Donegal School District. According to DAC president, Abby Hoover, the funds will benefit the student-athletes' experiences both on and off the field and will help to offset some of the district's costs.
