Friendsgiving Feast To-Go Set

Church World Service (CWS) Harrisburg will hold its inaugural International Friendsgiving Feast To-Go on Saturday, Nov. 26. The to-go meals will be sold as a fundraiser to help CWS Harrisburg live out its mission of transforming communities by welcoming and supporting refugees and immigrants.

The meals will offer a culturally diverse opportunity to learn more about being a welcoming community. The meal's recipes are written by Harrisburg's new residents from Syria, Afghanistan, Congo, Guatemala, and Ukraine. The event shares their culinary skills, culture, and home country dishes with the greater Harrisburg area.

Meals can be picked up from 4 to 6 p.m. on Nov. 26 at Hadee Mosque, 245 Division St., Harrisburg. Donations will be accepted.

To buy a single-serving meal, visit http://www.cwsharrisburg.org/friendsgiving. A limited number of meals are available and must be purchased online before Nov. 26.

The feast fundraiser coincides with the promotion leading to Giving Tuesday on Nov. 29. CWS Harrisburg's Giving Tuesday goal is to raise funds to provide transportation support for refugee resettlement programs. Coffee shops throughout the CWS Harrisburg service area will help co-promote CWS Harrisburg's services and presence in the region.

For the federal fiscal year 2023, CWS Harrisburg is approved to receive 110 refugees from around the world, including an estimated 75 Ukrainian humanitarian paroles. For more information about CWS and to volunteer, visit http://www.cwsharrisburg.org or call 717-358-9351.
