Fire company to mark 100th anniversary

The Bainbridge Fire Company will hold a 100th anniversary celebration on Saturday, Sept. 9.

The festivities will begin with a parade on Second Street at 9 a.m. A fire and smoke competition featuring pork and brisket will begin at 11 a.m. The event will also include food trucks, music, a cornhole competition, fire truck rides, pony rides, opportunities to smash a car and giveaway drawings for more than 30 prizes. More than 25 vendors will offer beer and wine. Commemorative 100th anniversary shirts, challenge coins and Christmas ornaments will be available for purchase.

To purchase tickets in advance, visit Gigi's Ice Cream Bar, 2 S. Second St., Bainbridge. Those who prepurchase tickets will receive free samples of the pork and brisket entered in the competition and an opportunity to vote for their favorite, along with entry into a giveaway drawing for a Blackstone flat grill.

Bainbridge is a 100% volunteer fire company that was started in 1923.
