Fire Company Schedules Annual Sale

The Bareville Fire Company, 211 E. Main St., Leola, will hold its 46th consignment auction on Saturday, Aug. 27. The event will include breakfast and lunch food items available for purchase, and both consigned and donated items will be auctioned off. Funds raised by the event will help to pay off an engine that went into service at the station in August 2021.

The day will kick off at 7:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast featuring eggs, creamed beef, toast, and more for a set price.

At 8:30 a.m., the auction will begin. According to auction coordinator Mervin Ebersole, items that usually go up for bids include shrubbery, groceries, lots of tools, quilts, and indoor and outdoor furniture. "Usually, we have a new, donated shed," reported Ebersole, who added that a partial truckload of items from Target will be featured this year. "These are not returns or exchanges. These are brand-new items," said Ebersole.

Bareville Fire Company has an all-volunteer force of about 40 firefighters. In addition to the engine, the company has a ladder truck and a squad unit for traffic control.
