Final Friday Set In Parkesburg

Final Friday, a monthly street fair presented by the Parkesburg Action Committee (PAC), is under way for the 2022 season. The festivities typically include vendors, live music and displays by community groups.

The next Final Friday event will be held on May 27 from 5 to 9 p.m. in the 200 block of Main Street. This month's theme will be "Honoring the Military."

In keeping with the theme, members of Parkesburg VFW Post 4480 will be represented at the event and will display a 1941 Dodge WC4 truck from World War II. They will also honor World War II veteran Robert Grier Montgomery, for whom the post is named. Montgomery's complete biography can be found at http://chescoheroes.org/561/Montgomery-Robert-G.

During Final Friday, about a block and a half of Main Street is closed from Rocco and Anna's Ristorante Italiano to Flowers in Bloom. "22bbq will be the food vendor; the El Limon Mexican restaurant will bring food over to Main Street to sell; and Suburban Brewing Company will provide beer and a food truck," noted PAC member Jenn Rice.

Guitarist Vince Miller will provide live music.

Those who have shops on Main Street in Parkesburg will also sell their wares outdoors, including Flowers in Bloom, Sweet Serendipity Cupcakes and Sweets, Fountain Springs Wellness Spa and the Little Shop Next Door.

Local organizations that will set up tables include the Parkesburg Lions Club; Kacie's Cause, Parkesburg Chapter; and the Octorara Area School District. "(The district) will be promoting their new after-school program," Rice noted.

Other vendors will include Candles By Fluffy; Reekie's Soaps; Spiritual Creations111, which sells items such as jewelry and aromatherapy products; and Pet Wants Lancaster, which will offer fresh pet food.

Local author Jacqui Maxwell, who recently released the book "Suzie and the Icky, Yucky, Smelly Quest for a Kitten," will have books available to purchase.

Final Fridays take place on the last Friday of each month from April through October. Upcoming program themes include the following: June 24, School's Out; July 29, Hot Summer Nights; Aug. 26, Dog Days of Summer; Sept. 30, Fall Fest; and Oct. 28, Harvest Moon.

Community organizations and vendors that would like to participate in the Final Friday program are asked to register at https://parkesburg.myshopify.com.
