Farmer To Speak To Kiwanis Club

The Kiwanis Club of Norlanco-Rheems will meet at Amato's Fire Pizza Italian Restaurant, 905 W. Main Street, Mount Joy, on Wednesday, Aug. 3, at 6 p.m. The speaker will be Mount Joy resident Luke Brubaker, who owned and operated a 1,000-cow dairy farm and more than 1,000-acre agribusiness company for more than 30 years before transitioning the farm to his two sons. He has served as a longtime member of Pennsylvania Farm Bureau's state and national legislative committees. He chairs Lancaster County Farm Bureau's Local Affairs Committee and is a past chair of the state Ag Labor and Safety Committee.

He has traveled abroad to promote agriculture, dairy and trade issues in Morocco, Germany, Russia, the Ukraine, Belarus, Nicaragua, Bolivia and Vietnam. He and his farm have received numerous awards and recognition. Brubaker is an active member of Mount Joy Mennonite Church.

His local government and community activities have included serving as a township supervisor, a member of the township planning commission, a co-chair of Blue Ribbon Commission for Agriculture of Lancaster County and a member of the boards of numerous community and agricultural organizations.
