Cornerstone Sets Annual Walk-Pull For Life

The eighth annual Pregnancy Resources at Cornerstone Walk-Pull for Life will include a variety of activities to interest families. Among the opportunities to participate will be a 5K walk, a flag football tournament, a chicken barbecue, and a Kids Zone featuring balloon animals and a reptile show.

This year's fundraiser will be held rain or shine on Saturday, Oct. 1, at Salisbury Township Park, 750 White Horse Road, Gap, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration for the flag football tournament will begin at 8 a.m. Teams are encouraged to register at http://www.pregnancyresources.org by Saturday, Sept. 24. The tournament will feature five-versus-five competitions between teams of up to seven members. Teams will vie for a large traveling trophy.

Registration for the 5K walk will open at 8:30 a.m., and the walk, which will be contained within the boundaries of the park, will begin at 9 a.m. Event coordinator Kristi Martin reported that the 5K route is paved and stroller friendly. Walkers are asked to register ahead of time at the Cornerstone website and seek sponsors. A set minimum donation is required to take part. Preregistration is necessary to guarantee a T-shirt in the correct size. Prizes will be awarded to the individual walker, and team of walkers, who amass the most funds from sponsorships.

The chicken barbecue will be held from 10 a.m. to noon. Meals consisting of a half-chicken, a roll with butter, applesauce, chips, a beverage, and a cookie, or a chicken-only option, must be prepurchased online at the previously mentioned website by Friday, Sept. 23.

A free Kids Zone will include an entertainer creating balloon art, barrel train rides, face painting, and a show by Jesse Rothacker of Forgotten Friend Reptile Sanctuary, beginning at 10 a.m.

For safety reasons, pets will not be permitted at the event.

Cornerstone serves as a resource for women experiencing unexpected pregnancies. It offers free pregnancy testing, ultrasound, and prenatal and parenting incentive programs, among other services.
