Family Fun Day, featuring games, pony rides, hayrides, food and more, will take place on Saturday, June 17, from noon to 4 p.m. at Ryerss Farm for Aged Equines. In addition, attendees will be able to see the retired and rescued horses that reside at the farm.

There will be a variety of children's activities at the event, including a horse-themed bounce house. "We are having a mini carousel with eight horses," noted Lynn Seeburger, a member of the Ryerss board of managers and the event chair. "We will also have two obstacle courses, which are inflatables, and inflatable skee ball. "

Games will include a duck pond, a carrot toss and a lollipop tree. Also offered will be tote painting and horseshoe decorating and puppet shows by puppeteer Robert Mouland. Jessica D'Angelo will provide face painting.

The Ryerss cafe will serve grilled hot dogs, hamburgers, cheeseburgers and sausage sandwiches along with ice cream. Families may eat at picnic tables that are located throughout the property.

Admission to Ryerss Family Fun Day is free, but tickets will be sold for activities and games. Donations will also be accepted. Activity tickets can be purchased in advance at http://www.ryerssfarm.org/events/family-fun-day-6.

The Ryerss gift shop will offer equine-related items; stuffed animals, including horses and pigs; decorative pillows; and Ryerss T-shirts, sweatshirts and hats. "There will be two gift shops open that day - both indoor and outdoor," said Seeburger.

All proceeds will benefit Ryerss Farm, a nonprofit organization that provides a permanent home to more than 80 aged, abused or injured horses. Horses that retire at Ryerss are never ridden or worked again. Seeburger added that about 70 volunteers donate their time to organize and help run Family Fun Day.
