Family fun at Fall Afresh

What started as a small event on a local farm has grown into a community celebration featuring fun for the whole family. Fall Afresh will be held on Saturday, Sept. 30, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Elizabethtown Fairgrounds, 900 E. High St.

"This will be the third successful time we've held the event," said Gabrielle Lehman, one of the event coordinators, noting that last year's event was rained out. "It began as a smaller community outreach event at someone's farm property with music, food and whoopie pies to now a much larger event celebrating the local businesses, musicians, artists and food at the Elizabethtown Fairgrounds. We're very proud of how it's grown every time we've held it."

Fall Afresh is organized by The Well Ministries, a nonprofit organization with the goal of promoting music and giving artists the chance to get out and perform in front of people, Lehman said.

This year's event will feature performances by the Encounter Church worship band as well as Matt Wheeler.

A variety of food trucks will be on-site, including Krazy Kones, Kay Melts, Bep's Family Faves and Lynn and Gray Coffee Co.

"There are all kinds of free, family-oriented activities that will be available to anyone who wants to come out," Lehman noted. "There will be pumpkin painting, outdoor games like cornhole, a bounce house and covered wagon rides around the grounds, and at least some of the vendors will be offering some stuff for the kids like candy and small stuff like pencils or stationery."

The event will also feature a giveaway with prizes and a hay bale toss with gift cards as prizes for both children and adults. Items in the giveaway will include toys, a new coffee maker and gift baskets such as a movie night at home and a body and skin care basket. A grand prize of cash will also be featured.

Sponsors of Fall Afresh include ABC27 as well as several local businesses and individuals, including Phill Stumpf of Kingsway Realty, Top Hat Fibers and Sewing and Grant Swift with Keller Williams Elite.

"We just want people to know that we are working as hard as we are specifically just so we can share the joy of music, good food and fellowship with them and that we hope that anyone who wants to come and attend or come and vend with us is very much welcome," Lehman said. "Anyone who wants to be a vendor can go to our Facebook page and sign up there ... even up to the last days."

She hopes that everyone will come out for a fun day, adding, "We want the community to have a chance to get out on a nice fall day and have a good time with the people they love and maybe meet new friends."
