Fair Queen Contestants Announced

Twelve Lampeter-Strasburg High School students will compete for the title of 2022 West Lampeter Fair queen on Wednesday, Sept. 28. The contest will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the show ring immediately following a 7 p.m. parade from the high school to the fairgrounds.

Each candidate represents a club, sport, or extracurricular activity. The contestants will meet individually with the Fair Queen Committee before the contest. The fair queen and runner-up will receive scholarships and cash prizes for themselves and their sponsoring organizations. The reigning queen also will represent the West Lampeter Community Fair at the state fair queen contest in January 2023.

The contestants are Alicia Bennethum, Elly Bruner, Madeline Cole, Lana Dyer, Katherine Helm, Kiera Knapp, Laura Leaman, Jaclyn Martin, Makenna Martin, Madison Miller, Madeline Ross and Alyssa Sprout.

Alicia is a junior and the daughter of Robert and Jennifer Bennethum of Strasburg. She will represent Student Council. Alicia will be escorted by junior Ben Cauler, son of Chad Cauler and Emily Mekeel of Lancaster.

Elly is a senior and the daughter of Keith and Gemma Bruner of Lancaster. She will represent the Fellowship of Christian Students (FCS). Elly will be escorted by senior Ricky Gibson, son of Richard and Jeanna Gibson of Lancaster.

Madeline is a junior and the daughter of Mark and Traci Cole of Lancaster. She will represent the junior class officers. Madeline will be escorted by junior Colin Whitaker, son of Michael and Karen Whitaker of Lancaster.

Lana is a senior and the daughter of Steven and Tamara Dyer of Lancaster. She will represent Tri-M Music Honor Society. Lana will be escorted by senior Rocco Coates, son of Robert and Shannon Coates of Strasburg.

Katherine is a senior and the daughter of Matthew and Tamara Helm of Willow Street. She will represent the L-S Thespian Society. Katherine will be escorted by senior Pearce Flory, son of James and Mary Flory of Lancaster.

Kiera is a junior and the daughter of William and Mary Knapp of Lancaster. She will represent the Scrub Club. Kiera will be escorted by junior Bennett Wehibe, son of Stephen and Cathy Wehibe of Lancaster.

Laura is a senior and the daughter of Christopher and Alison Leaman of Willow Street. She will represent National Honor Society. Laura will be escorted by Justin White, son of Michael and Shari Kearney of Willow Street.

Jaclyn is a junior and the daughter of Duane and Anita Martin of Willow Street. She will represent the Garden Spot FFA. Jaclyn will be escorted by Owen Williams, son of Brad Williams and Stephanie Estock of Willow Street.

Makenna is a junior and the daughter of John and Kimberly Martin of Strasburg. She will represent Model UN. Makenna will be escorted by senior Braden Weese, son of Christopher and Lauren Weese of Lancaster.

Madison is a senior and the daughter of Ken Miller and Elizabeth Ammon of Strasburg. She will represent the L-S bands. Madison will be escorted by senior Noah Sanderson, son of John and Kimberly Sanderson of Strasburg.

Madeline is a junior and the daughter of Jeri and Molly Ross of Willow Street. She will represent WLSH. Madeline will be escorted by junior Aiden Flory, son of James and Mary Flory of Lancaster.

Alyssa is a junior and the daughter of Derrick and Rebecca Sprout of Lancaster. She will represent the yearbook. Alyssa will be escorted by Owen Dean, son of Jesse and Laura O'Connor of Strasburg.
