Extension Will Offer Workshops

Penn State Extension will offer workshops on soybean, corn, and winter wheat production in December. To serve Pennsylvanians around the state, each workshop will occur simultaneously in multiple locations and will be livestreamed at all locations.

For example, some participants will learn about soybean production in York while others learn from Leesport. A local extension educator will be available on-site at each location; however, the main presentation will be a live feed of the presenter. A question-and-answer session will follow the presentation, and local educators also can answer questions from registrants.

The "Soybean Production Workshop" will be offered from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 13, in Lebanon, Lancaster, Chambersburg, York, Leesport, Ridgeway, New Bloomfield, and Mill Hall. This event is designed for new and experienced Pennsylvania soybean producers.

The "Grain Corn Production Workshop" will be offered from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 14, in Lewistown, Lebanon, York, Lancaster, Martinsburg, Leesport, and Smethport. This event is aimed at grain corn growers, crop consultants, industry representatives, and anyone interested in corn production.

The "Winter Wheat Production Workshop" will be offered from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 16, in Chambersburg, Lancaster, Leesport, and Dauphin. This event is designed for new and experienced Pennsylvania winter wheat producers.

Workshops will include sessions on a range of topics, including integrated pest and cultural management practices; variety selection; planting rates and dates; and fertility, weed, and disease scouting and management.

There is a nominal registration fee per person, and lunch is included for full-day events. Space in each workshop is limited, so preregistration is recommended. Each event has a different registration deadline. Find detailed agendas and register at https://extension.psu.edu/ag-production, or call 877-345-0691.
