There's so much to discover in Elizabethtown, and now it's easier than ever to unearth hidden treasures in the community. The Elizabethtown Scavenger Hunt invites people to learn more about the town in a fun, interactive way.

"The Elizabethtown Scavenger Hunt is a mobile-exclusive guide to explore Elizabethtown and is completely free to the user to participate," said Denise Grove, executive director of the Elizabethtown Area Chamber of Commerce. "The goal is to get visitors to explore our small, walkable towns in more depth. The pass will guide the user through town, where they will be able to answer questions at various points of interest around town. While completing the hunt, they will have access to redeem coupons at local businesses."

The hunt includes locations throughout the downtown area.

"The questions can be answered throughout our walkable downtown, including stops at the Winters Heritage House Museum, the town square, Elizabethtown's oldest building and more," Grove explained.

People can earn prizes for their participation.

"Prizes include Elizabethtown stickers, a post card and a pin, which participants can pick up at The Tatted Toy Guys Toy Emporium, 4 S. Market St., Elizabethtown," she said.

The scavenger hunt kicked off May 1 and will run through Aug. 31, 2027. It's an initiative of Discover Lancaster.

"The Chamber helped connect local businesses with the program and continues to support its promotion, recognizing it as a valuable opportunity to drive awareness and support for our local business community," Grove said.

Discover Lancaster approached the Chamber about making Elizabethtown one of its scavenger hunt locations, and it was an easy decision to say yes.

"With our charming walkable downtown, we thought this would be a fun way to introduce more people to everything that makes Elizabethtown such a special place," Grove said.

Discover Lancaster's other scavenger hunts include Lititz, Columbia and Intercourse.

So far, feedback from participants has been positive, Grove said, noting that people have especially enjoyed the opportunity it offers to discover things they might not know about Elizabethtown. The program is perfect for people of all ages, she added.

"Participating in the Discover Lancaster's Elizabethtown Scavenger Hunt is a fun and interactive way to explore our community. Whether you're a longtime resident or visiting for the first time, the scavenger hunt encourages you to discover local businesses, historic landmarks, unique shops and hidden gems throughout town," Grove said. "It's a great opportunity to get outside, support local businesses, learn something new about Elizabethtown and experience the charm of our walkable downtown."
