Event to focus on sustainability

The Chester County Planning Commission will host the 2025 Sustainability Summit and Expo on Saturday, May 17, at 10 a.m. The event will take place at West Chester University's Sciences and Engineering Center, 155 University Ave., West Chester.

A "Sustainable Energy" session will be presented at 10:15 a.m., followed by "Sustainable Landscaping" at 11:15 a.m. The presentations will be repeated from noon to 2 p.m.

Other activities during the event will include an "Ask an EV Driver" car show, weather permitting; opportunities to chat with neighbors about their experience with solar or geothermal systems, rain gardens, and more; and an expo with more than 40 vendors and community organizations.

The program will include a free lunch for all attendees, as well as a native plant giveaway.

The event is meant to help residents work toward cutting 80% of greenhouse gas emissions in the county by 2050. This goal is part of Chester County's Climate Action Plan.
