Event To Feature Barbecue Contest and Guest Speaker

Chiques Church, 4045 Sunnyside Road, Manheim, will host its fourth annual BBQ Competition on Sunday, Aug. 24, starting at 4 p.m. The event will also feature special guest speaker Victor Marx of All Things Possible.

The competition will pit local barbecue masters against each other in brisket and pork butt categories, as well as a miscellaneous category. Attendees will be able to sample the entries from each competitor, and the church will provide pulled pork, sides, drinks and ice cream.

Grand prizes and runner-up prizes will be awarded in each category based on the judges' scoring, as well as an overall crowd favorite voted on by those attending.

In addition to the barbecue sampling and voting, there will be fun activities for children, including a bounce house and barrel train rides from 4 to 6 p.m. followed by a candy cannon at 6 p.m. After judging has closed, the barbecue competition winners will be announced and prizes will be awarded at 6:30 p.m.

Following the announcement of the winners, Marx will share his testimony about growing up in an abusive home and how he came to rescue children in the same situation.

There is no cost to attend the event. For more information, visit http://www.chiqueschurch.com or call JP at 717-824-1172.
