End-of-summer activities
It may seem like just yesterday that people were heralding the arrival of summer, but soon the season will come to an end, making room for apples, corn, and pumpkin spice. However, families still have plenty of time to enjoy the pleasant weather.
For example, they may consider attending a concert. Summer is a time of year when many artists go on tour and sell out places from arenas to amphitheaters to more intimate venues. People may find a musical artist the entire family enjoys and buy tickets to a show.
Families may also visit orchards that offer opportunities for customers to pick their own produce. In Pennsylvania, fruits ready to pick in mid- to late summer may include peaches and various kinds of berries, which can be turned into pies for Labor Day festivities.
Those who didn't have an opportunity to catch a fireworks display already this summer, or who enjoyed it so much that they want more, can look for upcoming fireworks displays. Some beachside towns and even amusement parks regularly host fireworks shows on the weekends.
Another possible activity is attending one of the many fairs that fill calendars this time of year. The events offer opportunities to enjoy carnival rides, fair foods, and live entertainment as well as to view livestock and other agricultural products.
Hot-air balloon festivals may take place this time of year. Families can check to see if there is one within driving distance.
Another possible destination is a botanical garden or arboretum, where people may view the trees, flowers, and shrubs in bloom. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy a day in nature.
Back at home, families may enjoy an outdoor movie in the backyard. They may purchase or borrow a movie projector or even use a white sheet stretched between two poles. They may invite neighbors to come over, set up picnic blankets, and enjoy a family flick.
Families may consider taking advantage of the warm weather by pitching a tent at a campground or even in their backyard and spending an evening sleeping under the stars.
Throughout the summer, people may have already enjoyed a variety of activities, and they may consider choosing one to repeat. All members of the family may note what their favorite activities have been over the preceding weeks, such as paddleboarding on a lake or taking a scenic drive. Once the answers are compiled, people may pick one activity to enjoy all over again.
Families still have time to experience the wonders of summer through various activities before autumn begins.
