Elizabethtown Fair Wins Awards At State Convention

Officers and directors of the Elizabethtown Fair Committee attended workshops and seminars at the State Convention of the Pennsylvania State Association of County Fairs (PSACF) from Jan. 19 to 22 at the Hershey Lodge. The State Association comprises 108 fairs across the state.

Emma Musser, 2021 Elizabethtown fair queen, represented the Elizabethtown Fair in the State Fair Queen Competition, held on Jan. 20, 21 and 22. In competition against 57 fair queens from across Pennsylvania, Musser was one of five finalists.

All fairs were encouraged to participate in the Communications Competition, which was also part of the convention. The competition included categories for Fair Premium Book, Fair Premium Tabloid, Non-Premium Tabloid, Website, Video Tape, PowerPoint, Floor Display, Creative Fair Idea, Digital Scrapbook, Scrapbook, Scrapbook Cover, Brochure, Placemat, and Promotional and Advertising Campaign.

Award announcements were made at the Communications Breakfast. The Elizabethtown Fair placed first for its placemat, prepared by Freedom Graphics, incorporating pictures taken by Rachel George and cover paintings by Nancy Landis; first for its premium tabloid, prepared by Engle Printing & Publishing Co., Inc.; second for its floor display, prepared by George; second for its creative fair idea; and third for its premium book, prepared by Freedom Graphics and Sally Nolt.

The 2022 Elizabethtown Fair will be held from Monday to Saturday, Aug. 22 to Aug. 27. A tentative schedule and premium list will be available in mid-February at http://www.etownfair.com.

The Elizabethtown Fair Board meets on the fourth Thursday each month at 7:30 p.m. at the Elizabethtown BIC Church, 996 E. High St. The public is invited to attend.
