Elanco Ministerium sets Good Friday service

The Elanco Ministerium will hold a community Good Friday service on Friday, March 29, at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel at Garden Spot Village. The theme will be "Witnesses at the Cross."

Pastor Al Stoltzfus from Weaverland Anabaptist Faith Community will offer a welcome, call to worship, and prayer. Stoltzfus is the chair of the Elanco Ministerium.

In connection with the service's theme, four biblical figures will be discussed. They are the thief spoken of in Luke 23:39-43, discussed by pastor Ken Evitts from St. John's Center United Church of Christ; Jesus' mother as represented in John 19:25-27, spoken about by Garden Spot Village chaplain Karyn Nancarvis; the centurion featured in Luke 23:44-49, the subject of a message by pastor Kevin Kirkpatrick from Terre Hill Bible Fellowship Church; and Joseph of Arimathea in Mark 15:42-47, discussed by pastor Jack Peters from First Baptist Church of New Holland.

The Village Voices, directed by Rebecca Cone, will perform "For God So Loved the World"; "He Grew the Tree with The Old Rugged Cross," featuring Mary Wescott on the piano; and "Beneath the Cross of Jesus." The Village Ringers, directed by Fran Rapp, will present "And He Never Said a Word" and "Cross of Jesus, Cross of Sorrow." The service will also include piano music performed by Vaughn Estep, as well as congregational singing.

An offering will be received for Pathways to Housing.
