EAHS to honor 1974 field hockey team

Elizabethtown Area High School (EAHS) will hold a special ceremony to honor the 1974 state championship field hockey team, marking the 50th anniversary of the team's milestone achievement. The event will occur on Friday, Oct. 11, at 6:30 p.m. at White Family Dental Stadium, just before the Bears football team plays against Conestoga Valley. Community members are invited to attend the ceremony and the game.

In 1974, the Elizabethtown team claimed the school's inaugural state title and made history by winning the first-ever Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) state championship for field hockey. Prior to 1974, postseason play for field hockey concluded at the district level.

Members of the 1974 state championship team are encouraged to attend and reconnect with former teammates. Those who plan to attend should contact Greg Wood at 717-940-8740 for additional information.
