Dueck To Exhibit Creations

United Zion Retirement Community's Trinity Art Gallery will exhibit fabric and watercolor artwork by Helena Dueck. The exhibit will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Friday, Dec. 30.

Dueck is self-taught and attended D.R. Sykes and Jay McVey's portrait classes for many years. Subjects of her watercolor works include flowers located in the Alps, provincial fauna, and local scenery. Over the years, she has won numerous blue ribbons for her artwork.

She also creates quilted wall hangings and fiber art. When making quilts, she likes to use up fabric scraps from other sewing projects and combine a variety of colors and designs. She currently volunteers in the quilting room at Mennonite Central Committee's Material Resources Center in Ephrata. She noted that her creative abilities are a gift from God.

Dueck was born in Paraguay. As a young woman, she moved to Canada, where she then earned citizenship. Later in life, she moved to and became a citizen of the United States. Her travels have helped to inspire her artwork.

All visitors will be screened and are required to wear a mask covering their nose and mouth.

United Zion Retirement Community is located at 722 Furnace Hills Pike, Lititz. For more information, contact marketing@uzrc.org.
