Located at 34 E. State St., Quarryville, Solid Rock Youth Ministries strives to earn trust through authentic mentoring relationships with kids so lives can be changed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ. To accomplish this mission, Solid Rock offers several activities throughout the year, including after-school programs, art and drama programs, family fun events, and more.

For about 20 years, Solid Rock has hosted an annual dinner and auction fundraising event; however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the event was modified last year and moved to an online format. According to Raeanne Nixon, executive director of Solid Rock, the system worked well last year, so the auction will return in an online format this year.

Bidding will open on Monday, Oct. 18, at 8 a.m. and will close on Thursday, Oct. 21, at 8 p.m. Winners will be notified via email. Items can be paid for by cash, check, or credit card, and they should be picked up at Solid Rock on Friday, Oct. 22, between 4 and 7 p.m. If Friday does not suit, contact Solid Rock at solidrockyouthmin@gmail.com or 717-786-8007 to make other arrangements.

"With it being online, we get new people who have never heard of Solid Rock, so this could be a bridge for people to learn more about Solid Rock and support our mission," stated Nixon.

Some of the items up for bids will include a Kate Spade purse, a remote-controlled car, a reclining chair, an Amish handcrafted desk and chair, an overnight stay at the Liberty Spring House at the Star Barn Village, an original painting by Liz Hess, and a Hershey Company gift card.

Nixon mentioned that she is thankful for the partnership with Miller & Siegrist Auctioneers on this event and for the businesses, churches, and individuals who have contributed to the auction. "We are blessed by our community who supports Solid Rock," said Nixon.
