"Dinner With Jesus" VBS slated

High View Church of God, 2470 Leaman Road, Ronks, will host "Dinner With Jesus" vacation Bible school (VBS) on Sunday, July 30, through Thursday, Aug. 3, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Classes will be offered for people from infants through adults. The daily schedule involves music, crafts, a Bible lesson, games and snacks. On Aug. 3, starting at 5:30 p.m., the church will provide a free hot dog, drink and snack for each attendee.

After the pandemic, when people were often unable to gather to share meals together, High View sought to choose a VBS theme that reflects on and teaches about the hospitality and gatherings in which Jesus spent time with family, friends and acquaintances.

Each evening, an offering will be received for Mercy Chefs. This faith-based, nonprofit disaster and humanitarian relief association provides restaurant-quality meals to victims, volunteers and first responders in natural disasters and national emergencies, and it partners with other organizations to provide food service in underserved communities across the country. Mercy Chefs' initiatives include helping to develop community kitchens, delivering grocery boxes and supporting people in food-insecure communities through job skills training, single parent cooking classes and budget recipe creation.
