DHS To Host Veterans Day Program

Donegal High School (DHS), 1025 Koser Road, Mount Joy, will host its annual Veterans Day program on Thursday, Nov. 11. A 9 a.m. continental breakfast reception will precede the ceremony, which will begin promptly at 10 a.m.

Following program tradition, students and guests will learn about the history of Veterans Day, listen to "In Flanders' Fields" performed by the DHS chorus, pay tribute to DHS graduates who are veterans, and witness a roll-call of veterans in attendance. The program will conclude with the playing of taps.

This year's program will feature local veteran and retired educator George Leyh reflecting on the value and the importance of remembering, honoring, and educating present and future generations about Veterans Day. The student winner of the VFW's annual Voice of Democracy essay competition will deliver remarks addressing the theme of "America: Where do we go from here?"

Interested area residents who are veterans, along with their spouses, are welcome to make a reservation to attend the day's events by contacting the Donegal High School principal's secretary, Tina Maag, at 717-492-1202 or tina.maag@donegalsd.org by Tuesday, Nov. 9.

Masks will be required for this event.
