CWS Harrisburg plans fundraiser

Church World Service (CWS) Harrisburg will hold a fundraiser at West Shore Theatre, 317 Bridge St., New Cumberland, on Saturday, March 18, at 7 p.m. to celebrate its first anniversary of welcoming new neighbors to the Harrisburg region. Attendees will learn about CWS Harrisburg's impact and programs and enjoy a screening of the film "Olga." Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

The event will include a film screening of the film "Olga," which centers on a 15-year-old Ukrainian gymnast exiled in Switzerland who is working to secure a place at the country's National Sports Center. When the Euromaiden revolt breaks out in the country, anxieties rise as her family gets involved. The film includes English subtitles.

CWS Harrisburg's mission is to help refugees resettle, form long-lasting relationships in the community, and maintain their own basic needs in a sustainable lifestyle. CWS Harrisburg, through its support of Uniting for Ukraine, provides services to Ukrainian citizens or those who recently lived in Ukraine that arrived in the United States since Feb. 24, 2022.

General admission tickets may be purchased at http://www.cwsharrisburg.org/one. Additional donations are welcome to help cover the cost of this event. Advance tickets are the best way to secure a seat, and ticket availability at the door cannot be guaranteed. Advance ticket sales will end at noon on Thursday, March 16.

Complimentary tickets are available to those with financial barriers who could not otherwise attend as well as new Ukrainian neighbors by contacting Erika Juran by March 16 at ejuran@cwsglobal.org. Event sponsorships are available.
