Cub Scouts hold Pinewood Derby

Cub Scout Pack 85 held its Pinewood Derby race on March 11 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church (SPUMC). The top winner was second-grader Lee Teets, who had the fastest car in the entire pack.

The second-place award winner for speed was fourth-grader Jackson Nash. The third-place award for speed went to fourth-grader Rory Blackburn. Best in Show winners were second-grader Theo Karr, first place; second-grader Lee Teets, second place; and first-grader Brycen Lee, third place.

Races were also held by grade level. First-grade winners for speed were Greyson Bell, first place; Finn Lake, second place; and JP Jahoa, third place. Best of Show winners were Finn Lake, first place; Brycen Lee, second place; and JP Jahoda, third place. Also competing was Logan Hathaway.

Second-grade winners for speed were Lee Teets, first place; Theo Karr, second place; and Isaac Eby, third place. The Best of Show winners were Theo Karr, first place; Lee Teets, second place; and Watson Heikel, third place. Also competing was Liam Habecker.

Third-grade winners for speed were Nolan McNall, first place; Cameron Bell, second place; and Connor Pease, third place. Best of Show winners were Harper Lake, first place; Nolan McNally, second place; and Everett Lee, third place. Also competing was Nicholas Ritenour.

In the fourth-grade competition, Jackson Nash won first place in speed and Best of Show, and Rory Blackburn won second place in speed and Best of Show.

Siblings and family members were also eligible to participate in races. Winners were Remy Pease, who won first place in speed and Best of Show, and Maggie Heikel, who won second place in speed and Best of Show.

Parents and family members joined in an outlaw race. Winners in the speed competition were Dan Nolan, first place; Kevin Karr, second place; and Steve Ritenour, third place. Best of Show winners were Steve Ritenour, first place; Kevin Karr, second place; and Mackenzie Heikel, third place. Also competing was Brian Teets.

The top three winners for both Best in Show and speed will go on to the district level to compete against participants from other Scout packs in the area.

Led by Cubmaster Tony Kern, Pack 85 meets on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at SPUMC, 398 N. Locust St., Elizabethtown, and is chartered by the Elizabethtown Rotary Club.
