Cozbi Cabrera Plans Library Visits

Award-winning author and illustrator Cozbi Cabrera will join the Dauphin County Library System for its 15th annual Joan Y. Leopold Children's Book Week Celebration in November. The weeklong celebration featuring Cabrera's award-winning book, "Me and Mama," will kick off on Monday, Nov. 8. Displays at each library will feature Cabrera's work, as well as take-and-make kits and other activities families can complete at the library or at home.

Cabrera will visit local libraries to talk about her book and the process behind writing and illustrating the story. Visits will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 13, at the William H. & Marion C. Alexander Family Library, 200 W. Second St., Hummelstown; at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 13 at Kline Library, 530 S. 29th St., Harrisburg; and at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, at East Shore Area Library, 4501 Ethel St., Harrisburg. The event on Nov. 14 will be livestreamed simultaneously on Zoom.

Each family that attends an in-person or virtual Children's Book Week event will receive a copy of "Me and Mama" to keep. In-person registrants will be able to get the book signed after the event. Those who join virtually on Zoom can pick up their family's book at their chosen library after the event.
