County Bird Club Sets Calendar

The Lancaster County Bird Club (LCBC) will meet on Thursday, April 7, at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the Farm and Home Center, 1383 Arcadia Road, Lancaster. The program will feature Sue Hannon, a volunteer with Harrisburg's Falcon Watch and Rescue since 2005.

In addition to its meeting, LCBC will offer four field trips. The public is invited free of charge. Registration is required no later than 6 p.m. the day before the trip.

On Saturday, April 9, the venue will be Safe Harbor Park with a 7 a.m. start. Target birds are early spring migrants like yellow-throated warblers, bald eagles, and peregrine falcons. Contact Kim Morelock at motherunitof5@aol.com or 717-471-0787.

On Sunday, April 10, the venue will be Memorial Lake and the surrounding area in Lebanon County for the early morning displaying American woodcock at 6 a.m., or individuals may join at 7 a.m. for the remainder of the trip. Contact Jonathan Heller at 717-940-6067 or jonathan.heller@comcast.net.

On Saturday, April 23, there will be a trip to Safe Harbor and Chestnut Grove Natural Area from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Some target birds include the yellow-throated warbler, palm warbler, white-eyed vireo, and fox sparrow. Contact Carl Groff at 717-471-9969 or fledge19@verizon.net.
