Concert To Feature Celtic Music

Fire in the Glen will perform at the Eicher Arts Center, 409 Cocalico St., in Ephrata Borough's Grater Park, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 13, in anticipation of St. Patrick's Day.

Playing fiddle tunes and a few ballads and airs, the band mixes traditional Irish, Scottish and Cape Breton musical styles with its own Celtic eclectic approach.

Tom Knapp, on fiddle, bodhran and backing vocals, has been performing as a part of Fire in the Glen since its start as a duo in Lancaster in 1999. The band also features Amanda Wells on lead vocals, guitar and percussion and Rod Nevin on lead vocals, Scottish smallpipes, pennywhistles and ukulele.

The March 13 performance will include traditional songs such as "I'll Tell Me Ma," "The Wellerman," "Lily the Pink" and "Reilly's Daughter," as well as several fiddle, pipe and whistle tunes and the original song "The Susquehanna Pirate."

Admission is free. Donations to the nonprofit Eicher Arts Center Inc. will be accepted.

Weather permitting, the concert will take place outdoors at the Arts Center near Cocalico Creek. Audience members are advised to bring folding chairs and face masks.
