Concert and ice cream social planned

Community United Methodist Church, 130 Tennyson Drive, Lancaster, will host a "Sundaes and Songs" event on Friday, July 14, at 6 p.m. This outdoor event will feature games for children, free ice cream with all the fixings, and trolley rides for those who want to tour the neighborhood in the open air trolley.

The Lampeter-Strasburg Community Band will present a concert at 7 p.m. Attendees may bring lawn chairs and enjoy an ice cream sundae while listening to selections including the march "The Liberty Bell"; "Sway"; "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot," featuring a trombone solo by Dale Diller; "St. Thomas"; "A Trumpeter's Prayer" with a solo by Joe Gagliardi; "Shania!"; "At the Gremlin Ball," featuring a solo by Howard Boots; selections from "Grease"; "Wooly Bully"; "Carry On Wayward Son"; "America the Beautiful"; and "God Bless America." The band is directed by Boots, who is a music educator, and consists of 40 members.

The event is free and open to the public. In the case of rain, the event will be postponed until Friday, July 21.
