You're Invited to a Family Fall Festival

Head out to Glossbrenner Church for fun, fellowship and festivities, all free of charge, at the church's annual Family Fall Festival. It will be held on Saturday, Oct. 4, from 5 to 7 p.m. at 713 Church St., Mount Joy.

The evening will feature games, crafts, food and more, said Jessica Rockey, children and youth director for Glossbrenner Church.

"We will have pumpkin decorating, as well as assorted fall crafts and an opportunity to get a fall family picture with a frame," she stated. "We will have a variety of games for all ages with prizes and candy. We, of course, always have a bounce house which is a big hit for the kiddos and a relief to parents for them to get some of their energy out!"

Everything at the event is free, she said, because the church wants anyone who is interested to enjoy a night out.

"We want to give back to our amazing community and provide a time for families and others to be able to make memories without having to worry about them costing money," she explained. "We know times are tough, and trying to get out of the house and do something fun is usually so costly. We want to take away that stress so people can be in the moment and focus on this wonderful abundant life Jesus died to give us!"

She also noted that the party is open to everyone.

"It might be called 'Family Fall Fest,' but you do not need a family to join in on the fun," she stated. "We want to welcome everyone in our community with open arms and hope they can see that they can find friends and fellowship here at Glossbrenner. Come on out and join us for some good fellowship and food. We want everyone to know they are welcome at Glossbrenner regardless of where they are at on their spiritual journey."

The church has held the festival for the past four years, and it's been an opportunity for members of the congregation to serve while providing fun for the community, Rockey said.

"Our guests have a lot of fun, but our volunteers also have a great time!" she remarked. "We have helpers from our church in their teens up to their 80s. It is just so special seeing Christ's church body come together in love with their different God-given talents to pull off an event like this."

Glossbrenner Church alternates between traditional and contemporary services with a praise team every other week on Sunday mornings.

"I would say our church is unique because our attendance stays steady even though one service can be so different than the next week," Rockey commented. "I think it has helped the different generations appreciate that others worship differently. Our service runs from 10 to 11 a.m., and we always have something for the children at our services, usually holding a kids' church down in our fellowship hall during the sermon time."

Sunday school for people of all ages is held immediately following the service and runs until about noon.

"Sunday school is always a great place to dive deeper into God's Word with your peers, ask the tough questions and even share your doubts and struggles in a safe, compassionate environment," she noted, encouraging people to check out Glossbrenner Church. "You do not have to know anything about the Bible or even know where you stand with this whole Jesus thing to join us at church. Church is filled with imperfect people seeking a perfect Savior they find in Jesus Christ. We do life together here at Glossbrenner, always looking to God's Word for answers to life's tough questions and comfort of His promises in the struggles of this life."

The Family Fall Fest will be held in the upper parking lot of the church on the corner of Water and Angle streets.

"We ask for people to park in our lower lot and walk up," Rockey said. "If the weather is inclement, we have held it before downstairs in our fellowship hall, and it was still a fun-filled success. So, rain or shine be prepared to join us for a good time!"
