Civil Air Patrol squadron volunteers at auction

Members of the Lancaster Civil Air Patrol (CAP) Jesse Jones Squadron 304 dedicated their time to support the Labor Day Auction for Hospice and Community Care on Aug. 31 and Sept. 2.

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the annual Labor Day Auction for Hospice and Community Care, which raises funds to provide hospice, palliative care and bereavement support services to the community. Throughout the event, the Lancaster CAP cadets and senior members assisted event staff members with coordinating shuttle service, traffic control and parking for vendors and patrons. The event featured a variety of items for sale, including Amish-made food, sports memorabilia, vacations, artwork, furniture, quilts, sheds, vehicles and more.

This year, the auction raised an unprecedented $1.1 million, ensuring continued care for those coping with serious illness, facing end-of-life challenges or experiencing the loss of a loved one.

Helping at the auction is one of the many services that the Jesse Jones Squadron 304 provides to the community. Service to cadets' community, state and nation is a primary part of the cadet programs within the Civil Air Patrol.

Jesse Jones Squadron 304 meets each Monday except holidays at 7 p.m. in the Venture Jets hangar, which is located at the Lancaster Airport near the intersection of Lititz Pike and Millport Road. Visitors are welcome.
