Church welcomes new senior pastor

Pastor Joel Petruschke has accepted a call to serve as senior pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 31 S. Duke St., Lancaster.

Petruschke has been a pastor in the Lower Susquehanna Synod of The Evangelical Lutheran Church in America since his ordination in 1998. He attended the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg (LTSG) for his Master of Divinity. In addition, he earned a Master of Sacred Theology at LTSG and a Doctor of Theology from the Evangelical Seminary in Myerstown.  

His wife, Kathy, is also a Lutheran pastor in the Lower Susquehanna Synod.  Petruschke's ministry at Holy Trinity began the week of Oct. 21. His formal installation will be held on Sunday, Jan. 5, 2025, at 3 p.m.

Two years before the birth of George Washington and 46 years before the Declaration of Independence, Holy Trinity Lutheran Church was a worshiping congregation. It formally organized in 1730 with its first baptism recorded on May 4 of that year.
