Church to present concert, Wednesday night programs

The Celtic and folk band Rizzetta's Tones will perform at Lancaster Church of the Brethren (COB), 1601 Sunset Ave., Lancaster, on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 7 p.m. as part of the church's Starlight Tea Concert Series.

Consisting of Randy Kochel, Amanda Wells, Linda Lohr, Bill Stine and newest member Alden Hoke, the group performs music from Ireland, Scotland and the United States. Main instruments include hammered dulcimers, silver flute, high and low whistles, guitars, violin, and viola. Group members take turns on vocals.

Rizzetta's Tones is named in honor of West Virginia hammered dulcimer aficionado Sam Rizzetta. To learn more about the group, visit http://www.rizzettastones.com.

Tea and cookies will be served following the concert. The free Starlight Tea Concert Series is supported by patrons and offerings received at concerts. For more information, contact planning committee chair Giny Mackey at 717-201-8450.

Additionally, Lancaster COB is offering a fall semester of Wednesday Night Live programs. The series began on Sept. 18 and will continue through Nov. 20. Each week includes a brief devotional and a meal by donation at 5:30 p.m., followed by activities for children and youths and an adult class in the church's chapel at 6:30 p.m.

In the adult class, pastor Don Fitzkee and Bob Kettering will lead a six-week study using the video series "The After Party," which focuses on Christianity and politics. Produced by RedeemingBabel.org, the series features video clips of Redeeming Babel founding executive director Curtis Chang, New York Times columnist David French and Christianity Today editor-in-chief Russell Moore.

During the final four weeks of the fall season, beginning on Wednesday, Oct. 30, Lee C. Barrett from Lancaster Theological Seminary will talk further about how faith and theology shape politics. He will also suggest ways for Christians to support each other even when they disagree politically.
