Church to host program about Shroud of Turin

St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 2427 Marietta Ave., Lancaster, will host a talk about the Shroud of Turin on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 6:15 p.m. in the parish hall.

Bill Wingard will speak about the centuries-old cloth, which some people believe is the burial cloth of Jesus Christ. The shroud bears an image that first sparked interest over a century ago and continues to fuel debates among scientists, historians, artists, and theologians. Wingard's program was previously presented at other venues on the East and West coasts, including Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Attendees will have the opportunity to view a full-size replica of the shroud and photographic negative images that were made from it.

The event is geared for teens and adults. It is free of charge.
