Church To Host Mainstreet Brass In Concert

Mainstreet Brass will perform in concert on Sunday, Dec. 4, at 4 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 355 St. John's Circle, Phoenixville.

Mainstreet Brass has a varied repertoire spanning centuries, from florid 17th-century canzons and Bach transcriptions to show tunes and blues classics from Jelly Roll Morton, W.C. Handy and Fats Waller. The group's Christmas concerts include music from classic animated television shows for kids and families, a look back at the Christmas music that echoed in the great halls of Elizabethan England and arrangements of well-known carols.

Recent concert tours have taken the Mainstreet Brass from Vermont's Northeast Kingdom to the United Kingdom, where the group performed at Cambridge University; St. Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh, Scotland; Lyonsdown Hall in London; and other cathedrals and venues. There is no admission charge. A freewill offering will be received to help support the St. John's Concert Series, which is presented for the greater Phoenixville community.
