St. Paul Lutheran Church, Penryn, invites the community to attend "A Summer Eve With the Malta Band" on Saturday, Aug. 19. This event, to be held in the church picnic grove off North Penryn Road, is a variation on the church's traditional community picnic, which has been held on the third Saturday in August for many years.

Unlike at past picnics, no food or chicken corn soup will be available. As in previous years, the event will feature a concert by the Malta Band of Lancaster from 6 to 8 p.m. Ice cream and drinks will be available for purchase, and there will be a cake walk. Attendees should bring blankets and lawn chairs.
