Church Establishes Music School

Ascension Lutheran Church, 600 East Penn Grant Road, Willow Street, has announced the inauguration of a community outreach program called Ascension Academy. The mission of Ascension Academy is to provide educational music programs to students of all ages and levels. Individual lessons are being offered on the flute, clarinet, saxophone, guitar, and piano. Lessons on other instruments are also available.

The faculty includes John Zielinski, music director at Ascension Church, and Janine Thomas, principal clarinetist of the Lancaster Symphony Orchestra. Thomas also performs with the Reading and Harrisburg symphonies and the Fulton Theatre pit orchestra.

Ascension Academy adheres to stringent COVID-19 safety guidelines. Lessons are taught in a large, air-filtered room with ample space for social distancing. Hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipes are available. The narthex of the church provides a spacious area for parents to wait while their children receive lessons, and the church has a large parking lot.
