Chorale Seeks New Members

After a two-and-a-half-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Lancaster Chorale has announced openings for singers to join the chorale for the upcoming season. The ensemble has existed since 2001 and has typically performed with 80 to 100 singers from the Lancaster, York, and Lebanon areas.

The chorale is seeking gifted and serious singers age 15 and up of all voice parts. Qualifications include a desire to sing great choral music, an ability to sing moderately complex and challenging music, and a willingness to practice individually to learn one's part. Rehearsals and performances typically include a focus on the worship and praise of God. The chorale's repertoire focuses on sacred classics and traditional anthems. Upcoming repertoire includes "If You Love Me" by the 16th-century English composer Thomas Tallis and "Cantique de Jean Racine" by 19th-century French composer Gabriel Faure.

Rehearsals will be held at Calvary Church, 1051 Landis Valley Road, Lancaster, on Sundays from 3 to 5 p.m. beginning on Sept. 11. This season's performance will take place on Sunday, Nov. 20. The featured work will be "Gloria" by Antonio Vivaldi, performed with professional soloists and a chamber orchestra.

No preregistration is required. Singers may register at the Sept. 11 or 18 rehearsal. Registration will open at 2 p.m., and the registration fee includes a music packet.
