Chocolate Walk Will Sweeten 2nd Friday

You're invited to fall in love with Elizabethtown at the annual Mars Wrigley Chocolate Walk. The event, organized by LIV-ETown, will take place on Friday, Feb. 13, from 4 to 8 p.m. throughout downtown Elizabethtown as part of 2nd Friday festivities.

"The third annual Mars Wrigley Chocolate Walk brings together families and local businesses for an evening of love, laughter and celebration," shared Clint Gibble, president of LIV-ETown.

The walk will begin at The Elizabeth, 18 N. Market St., Elizabethtown, where people may purchase chocolate boxes or pick up preordered boxes. Attendees will then stroll through Elizabethtown, collecting various chocolates and candies from participating businesses.

"As part of the festive 2nd Friday activities, local eateries will be offering chocolate-themed menu specials and downtown shops will have Valentine's Day sales and surprise activities," said Tony Gibble of LIV-ETown. "Valentine-themed photo backdrops with fun and engaging props will also be available at The Elizabeth."

Clint noted that the event provides a chance for the community to come together to support local businesses in a fun and tasty way.

"We are immensely grateful to Mars Wrigley for sponsoring this much-anticipated annual event," he said.

Additional 2nd Friday activities that will take place during the walk include a conversation heart scavenger hunt and the My Town, E-town Sticker Book Sticker Quest.

"In the conversation heart scavenger hunt, hunters search for a conversation heart hidden in participating businesses," Tony said, noting that the scavenger hunt is free and that hunt sheets may be picked up with the chocolate boxes at The Elizabeth. "Each person completing the scavenger hunt receives a candy prize and is entered in a drawing to receive $150 of gift cards to downtown businesses."

For the Sticker Quest, participants will collect unique and themed stickers from local businesses to place in their My Town, E-town Sticker Book. The sticker books, which feature a cover created by local artist Julie Drake, are available for purchase for a small fee and contain blank pages to collect 2nd Friday stickers all year long.

LIV-ETown formed in 2021 with a goal of enhancing the vitality of the downtown Elizabethtown area by organizing events and activities that combine quality, outreach and fun. With a commitment to local participation and community engagement, LIV-ETown continues to hold unique events throughout the year, including the annual Strawberry Social, Candy Crawl and Trunk or Treat and the themed monthly 2nd Friday events, as well as the Very Grinchy Christmas Tree Lighting presented as a partnership with the Elizabethtown Area Chamber of Commerce and Discover Elizabethtown.

"All of our events are designed to foster lasting connections within the community," said Cindy Telenko, vice president of LIV-ETown. "These efforts demonstrate LIV-ETown's ongoing dedication to making downtown Elizabethtown a vibrant and welcoming place for all. ... The Chocolate Walk is a wonderful way for families, friends and neighbors to explore our downtown while making sweet memories along the way."

Tickets for chocolate boxes may be purchased in advance at The Candy Unicornium, 2 W. High St., Elizabethtown. A limited number of boxes will be available, so people are encouraged to get tickets early.
