On May 6, at the end of Teacher Appreciation Week, Elizabethtown Child Care Center (ECCC) recognized the winners of the first Melissa R. Anderson Memorial Awards. Each of the honorees was chosen because she possesses a characteristic of Melissa Anderson, an ECCC kindergarten teacher who passed away in 2020. In her memory, Anderson's family and a donor set up an award for teachers of ECCC who exemplify outstanding efforts in the field of early childhood education.

The honorees for 2022 are Yvette Schreiber, who was recognized for outstanding efforts in promoting teamwork; Emily Wolgemuth, outstanding compassion, flexibility, and positivity when working with children, families, and co-workers; Kelsey Hollinger, outstanding efforts that foster and improve relationships and partnerships with families; and Ashley Camilleri, excellence and innovation in teaching.
