Chester County Receives State Grants

Chester County has received $1.35 million in Local Share Account (LSA) grants to fund projects led by the Department of Emergency Services, Parks + Preservation, the Water Resources Authority, and the Planning Commission. The grants were awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority. The LSA program distributes funds derived from gaming revenue to support community and economic development projects.

Four projects in Chester County will receive funding, including a major upgrade to the 911 phone system. The $400,000 grant will go toward improving the reliability, cybersecurity, call management, transcription and translation, multimedia sharing, and real-time threat monitoring of the County's 911 system.

Safety measures at the Chester Valley Trail-Downingtown trestle bridge will receive $500,000. The project will address immediate public safety, security, and liability concerns associated with unauthorized access to the bridge.

LSA awarded $252,751 for a Flood Safety and Resilience Initiative pilot project. The undertaking is designed to strengthen flood preparedness at high-risk locations in Avondale, Caln Township, Coatesville, Downingtown, East Bradford Township, and Valley Township.

Through a grant for $200,000, additional heritage tourism kiosks will be installed at sites in Chester County that have interactive digital kiosks. This is the second phase of LSA funding; the first phase was awarded $333,500 in 2024.
