Change of Pace South announces new name, board of directors

Change of Pace South has moved into a new stage, establishing its own board of directors and adopting the name Oasis Women's Ministry.

In 1974, Dona Fisher and the Friendship Foundation launched a weekly non-denominational women's Bible study called Change of Pace. In 2000, a branch Bible study for women in southern Lancaster County was established as Change of Pace South by Carol Wever and Peggy Huber. Wever served as director until her death in 2019, and the director's torch was passed to Jennifer Hatch.

The name Oasis was chosen because it reflects Change of Pace's intention to offer a restful and refreshing pause on the journey of life. Oasis seeks to offer women an opportunity to enjoy fellowship, worship God, and study the Bible in a supportive and nurturing environment.

The new Oasis board includes Jade Brubaker, Peggy Huber, Deb Riddell, Cindy Riker, and Vicki Zurbrick. The board has been meeting regularly to complete the steps needed to form the nonprofit Oasis ministry and to carry on the mission and vision that began 23 years ago.

The Bible study will continue to meet at Providence Church, 269 Cinder Road, New Providence, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesdays throughout the school year.

The next session will begin on March 20 and conclude on May 1. Using the study guide "When You Pray," attendees will examine six types of prayer in the Bible, with lessons taught by Kelly Minter, Jackie Hill Perry, Jen Wilkin, Jennifer Rothschild, Jada Edwards, and Kristi McClelland. This study aims to inspire prayerful conversations with God, whether alone or with others, and to demonstrate how prayer strengthens relationships and brings unity. Workbooks will be available to purchase at the first session.

In-person registration will begin on March 20 at 9 a.m., when fellowship time and breakfast refreshments will be available. The group will formally start at 9:30 a.m. with worship in music, followed by a 30-minute video teaching and then small group discussion for the remainder of the event. Oasis includes a children's ministry, which provides supervision, snacks, crafts, and Bible stories for children of all ages. A freewill offering is received each week.
